The Highest Place Is The Lowliest Place--Humility, The Way Of The Kingdom.

Updated: Apr 25, 2024

Godly humility is a subject that doesn't seem to be taught as much in comparison to others, yet it's vitally important, and it's your safeguard in life! In fact, you really can't fulfill all that God has for you in your calling without this element in your walk.

It's of our flesh nature to want honor and want praise from man. I think this is one of the issues I have with social media because it's training us to desire glory from man, and to want their affirmation, and approval. You see women posting so many selfie pictures hoping to get many "likes" from others! If they don't get at least 200 "likes" that day their depressed, but you have to know you are beautiful on the inside and out because God said you are! Social media can be helpful, but it's really a tool of the enemy to get people to seek the praises of man.

Praise belongs to God, and not man, nor any other created thing. We must always watch over our hearts that we don't get lifted up. It's EXTREMELY easy to do that. You see this in the kings of the Old Testament. They were doing well until they became proud. It is the very nature of the devil. People get proud over different things in this life, and in Ezekiel, we see the king of Tyre get into pride over his wealth.

Ezekiel 28:1-5

The word of the Lord came again to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, say to the 1 leader of Tyre, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Because your heart is lifted up and you have said, ‘I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods In the heart of the seas’; Yet you are a man and not God, Although you make your heart like the heart of God—3 Behold, you are wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that is a match for you. 4 “By your wisdom and understanding you have acquired riches for yourself And have acquired gold and silver for your treasuries. 5 “by your great wisdom, by your trade You have increased your riches AND YOUR HEART IS LIFTED UP BECAUSE OF YOUR RICHES".

In this life were constantly being tested by God, a lot of times without us realizing it. He wants to see how we will respond to just a little promotion, a little revelation, a little blessing. If we keep a level head about it, then He can show us more! If we start getting lifted up and impressed with who are, He'll stop speaking.

Maybe you really are called to be a "Prophet", but there is still a proving period you will go through to actually walk worthy of that calling. If you start getting full of self-importance, He will not place you in that calling just yet, because He can't trust you with such sacred things. The callings of God are holy, and not to be trifled with. You will forever just be "called", and never actually step into that calling.

He can only bless you as far as He can, without you making the adjustments in your heart, because pride has a way of sneaking up on you! Even the most sanctified saint is given these kinds of suggestions, and feelings, but it's up to us to recognize and resist these thoughts.

It's interesting to study Jesus' relationship with the Father, He gave the Father the Glory in all of His earthly ministry. He didn't try to take glory upon Himself, even though it would have been true. He went giving glory to His Father. In Luke 18:18-19, it says

18 A ruler questioned Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”19 But Jesus said to him, “WHY DO YOU CALL ME GOOD? NO ONE IS GOOD EXCEPT GOD( THE FATHER) ALONE.

Now of course Jesus wasn't saying that He was evil or a bad person! As my Pastor back home would always say, "it's not just important to know what Jesus said, but what did He mean by what He said. Well, Jesus was just saying that He is nothing without the Father, He can do nothing! John 5:19 says

19 Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, THE SON CAN DO NOTHING OF HIMSELF, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in the same way.

Jesus was the lowliest person that ever walked the earth. He was not in self-promoting miracles that had been done by Him. In Matthew 8:3-4, it says

2 And a man with leprosy came to Him and bowed down before Him, and said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”3 Jesus reached out with His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 And Jesus said to him, “SEE THAT YOU TELL NO ONE; but go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

Now Jesus performed an extraordinary miracle here! In my Ryrie study bible, it is said that there wasn't any record of any Israelite being healed of leprosy with an exception of Miriam in the Old Testament! Jesus told the cured man to keep a tight lip about! I think all ministers should take a cue from Jesus! The way some ministers talk about the miracles in their ministries is nauseating!

Remember we are just containers of the Glory of God. We are just facilitators of the gifts and anointings of God. All of it comes from God, and it's just used equipment.

To reach the higher places in God you have to be humble. It's required. The highest place is really the lowliest place, if you want to go high, you must first learn to go low. You go low, not for the motive, and purpose of going high, but you go low because you love the Father.
