The devil Will Always TRY To Make You a Doubter Of God's Word!

The enemy is always coming after the Word and will look for every opportunity to make you doubt what He said. The devil is a liar and the father of lies, but he will try to "flip the script", and make the Lord look like the "liar". I've heard Christians say "I've been believing God, but it's not working!! I'm standing, but nothing is coming to pass!!" Then they look at God in frustration and bewilderment! They see their circumstances not changing so they quit, and get discouraged!
Guys, if we understand the schemes of the enemy, we’ll not be taken off guard when he comes our way! We have to be on guard at all times because when you're not, you're ill-prepared to defend yourself. Paul said that we are not to be ignorant of the devil's devices, and it’s the IGNORANCE that will put us in the trick bag!
We need to know that satan will frame situations on purpose to CONVINCE you that your prayers won't be answered. In this world we are so wired by the enemy to walk by sight---what we can feel, touch, see, and think. We are so well acquainted with our physical senses; we have neglected to be in touch with our spirits. Why do you think there’s been such a huge push in the world on education and intellectualism? I'm not against education, it’s better than being dumb, but we can’t lean on those things at the expense of our hearts. If the devil can get you to make assessments on truth by what we can feel, touch, see, and think---then he can direct your life! He will use those tactics to control you, to get you to doubt God, and not trust Him. We see this way back in the beginning in Genesis Chapter 3:1-6
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’” 4 The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! 5 “For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.
The devil uses setup moves here trying to deceive Eve. It's just steps to get you ultimately to take the bait. I want to bring your attention to something in verse 1,
“...............Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?
Now, why did the devil ask this stupid question? God said what He said to Adam, and the devil knew it! he was planting seeds of suggestion. This is a setup move. Eve responds “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’'
Remember in verse 1, it says that the serpent was the craftiest of them all. The other translations use the word subtle, I like that better because it gives you a clue on HOW he is crafty-----because he is SUBTLE.
In verse 3, the word for “die”, would have been better said “twice dead”. Young’s Literal translation in Genesis chapter 2:17 has it said, “dying thou dost die”. This is referring to both physical and spiritual death! So, God was telling them they would die a physical and eternal death. In Jude 1:13, he uses this terminology as well talking about believers who ended being up lost.
The devil says in verse 4, “You surely will not die! 5 “For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 When the woman SAW that the tree was good for food, and that it was a DELIGHT to the EYES, and that the tree was DESIREABLE TO MAKE ONE WISE, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.
The devil was saying without saying: “Oh please! He's lying to you! You won't be twice dead! God just knows once you eat of it, you will be wise just like Him knowing good and evil. The Lord is WITHHOLDING KNOWLEDGE from you! That’s the real reason you can’t eat of that one tree.
Eve then started entertaining his thoughts, and started making assessments on TRUTH based on what her senses were telling her, and not on the word God gave her. She also started coveting the idea of being wise like God. The transliterated word for desirable in Hebrew is "chamad" which is also used for the word "covet". There are quite a few places in the Old Testament you see this word relating to covetousness. Eve didn't casually desire to be wise...…. she coveted the idea of being wise like God! "What is this wisdom that God is withholding from us? I want to be like God! I want to be wise!"
The devil totally set her up! Eve simply decided to listen to the voice of that old ugly snake and forgot what God told her. The devil was able to persuade her into listening to his voice instead of God.
he's still doing that today with people! Trying to get people to believe that God lies, that He is somehow withholding from us, trying to add any hint of doubt, trying to get us to walk by sight instead of what the Lord said. Our enemy wants us to believe that our faith is not working, that the Lord won't come through for us! When we understand how he operates, then we can withstand his attacks of doubt and unbelief. A lot of times it’s just simply RECOGNIZING an enemy attack, and then not going for it when he comes a prowling.
Let us not be ignorant of the devil's lies!
